I currently have 2 of these guys in my all color zombie deck, trust me, its worth having these in it. Alone, its a cheap card, a 2/2, that can pump to a 4/4 for 2 life. If you have Necromancer's Covenant, all zombies gain lifelink, which basically eliminates the 2 life cost because you will gain 4 life for attacking, regardless if it lands a creature or a player. If you don't want to put white mana in your deck, place some Vampiric Links in it, 1 bllack mana enchantment that gives target creature lifelink.

Cheers!

yeah in the draft last night i picked one up. was such a rockstar all night. i made a play mistake in game 3 of the last match. opp' had an empty board on turn 4...maybe 5 and i swung in w/ mr. leech and a flying 1/1 (forget the name...kathari deathtouch pay for first strike). got greedy and pumped, in response he plays resounding thunder. the real kicker is that i sat next to him in the draft (on his left) and i had picked up two resounding thunders of my own! (i didn't see his resounding thunder game one or two). but that greed eventually cost me the game. bummer. putrid leech rocks though. hardcore.

I'm not sure whether it will make the leap to constructed, but Putrid Leech is absurd in limited, and god help them if you play Leech turn 2 and follow with an exalted guy.
