U/W ‘Tron – Winning with the Sideboard

This video observes the U/W ‘Tron deck disrupting the opponents’ strategies with key sideboard cards like Chalice of the Void, Tormod’s Crypt, and Vendilion Clique. While not one of these cards will win against a top deck all by its lonesome, as part of a cohesive strategy and backed by the power of the UrzaTron, these cards can reduce some of the most dangerous decks in the metagame into jelly.

U/W ‘Tron – Nicholas Gulledge

4 Azorius Signet
2 Chalice of the Void
3 Chrome Mox
1 Crucible of Worlds
2 Engineered Explosives
2 Mindslaver
1 Sundering Titan
1 Triskelion

4 Condescend
4 Gifts Ungiven
1 Spell Burst
4 Thirst for Knowledge

2 Decree of Justice
3 Oblivion Ring
3 Wrath of God

1 Academy Ruins
2 Flooded Strand
4 Hallowed Fountain
1 Mystic Gate
1 Plains
2 Tolaria West
4 Urza’s Mine
4 Urza’s Power Plant
4 Urza’s Tower

sideboard:
1 Chalice of the Void
4 Circle of Protection: Red
3 Kitchen Finks
3 Sower of Temptation
1 Tormod’s Crypt
3 Vendilion Clique

I liked testing this deck.

I would consider playing a deck like this — especially for post-Conflux with Path to Exile and Martial Coup — but with Remand. Remand and Condescend help set up the ‘Tron and protect any lead the deck can generate. But hey! I’m the kind of person willing to play a Solemn Simulacrum in Extended.

LOVE
MIKE

Greetings from Spain! Some quick questions for you

1. Your surname is spanish, can you speak spanish? I know that you have philippine ascendancy, but maybe…
2. I am interested in buying your book, Deckade, signed by you if possible, but the link at top8magic.com doesn’t seem to work. Where can I go?

If you speak spanish I would be so happy if you could visit http://diezconcalvo.blogspot.com and provide us with your great insight. Anyway, best regards and go on with the good job!

1. My Spanish is poor.
2. We’re currently sold out but another edition is coming! I’ll definitely let you know when we have them back in stock 🙂

I guess that simulacrum will find a forest….. What’s your prediction on the best constructed card in Conflux? for T2 and 1.x?

Sorry for the double post*

I also think that if Tron is good in a metagame, depends if Chalice is good, and you play just 2 copies maindeck, maybe at that point just Tezzerator is better, I wouldn’t think on playing Tron without 4 Chalices maindeck.

Any chance Volcanic Fallout would be seen in the lightning bolt deck? or the new spark elementals? Pretty sure VF is better than Slice and Dice in the 75.

Mike, what would the deck look like with Paths and Marshal Coups? Im assuming Coup does not replace Wrath of god? Perhaps it replaces Decree? But part of Decree being so good is that you cycle it during their endstep and then win! Probably O Ring gets the cut, but its to valuable against blood moon effects? I havent seen many blood moons at PTQs so far, but with 3 chrome mox they arent as huge a concern as people might think for tron.

And how would this beat TEPS? Needs Trickbinds in the board i think. Probably trickbind instead of Finks?

@GRat
You already loved me.

@Diego
Path to Exile.
As to your second post, I like Slice and Dice better.

@kingpete
Might be in the sideboard. Might be a singleton / mix. Blood Moon was medium irrelevant as you could see, due to all the artifact manas.
As for TEPS I was comfortable with Chalices and Cliques buying time for big Slaver. I’d play up to four Chalices before I started messing with reactive cards… but maybe that is asinine given the Shattering Sprees?

More than before! But I still don’t know what I’m playing saturday!

@GRat
Play the Critical Mass I posted.

But only if you want to win.

Let’s be honest – it’s all about the shirt 🙂
